I found it fiddly and tricky to set the timer and to understand the instructions.

EXTREMELY complicated to set up. LCD display writing is so small that it needs a microscope to read. Impossible to switch on and off easily when manually required. Too clever, too many buttons, and too difficult to use. If you want a timer, get a simple one with pins and a manual on/off switch.
